Description
This jade owl is made of green jade. The jade quality is very good and extremely mild! The surface covered with thick glossy pantina, and there is brown soak-induced color on one side, which permeates through the jade texture.
The jade owl looks up at the sky, with round eyes, and a pointed hook-like mouth that connects to the lower jaw to form an ornamental hole. There is a serrated crest on the top of the head and negative lines carved horns on both sides of the head. The wings are folded, and the claws are stretched forward in a squatting position. The arc-shaped tail feathers droop and support the feet.
The wings of the jade owl are symmetrically decorated with double line curly thunder patterns, the abdomen carved with wavy shade-lines, the tail feathers are also carved with fine concave lines, and the joints are embossed curling moire patterns.
The overall shape of this jade owl is a typical squatting owl style of the Shang Dynasty. It is fully carved with neat lines, meticulous, top craftsmanship, excellent jade quality. A rare masterpiece!
